SLADE, Harley Addision

SLADE, Harley Addison 'Peachy Keene' Age 85 passed away at home in Lancaster, Calif. on Jan. 12, 2014. Harley was born in San Francisco, Calif., on Feb. 10, 1928. The only child of Curtis and Marion (Boss) Slade. He is survived by his 4 children, Barbara (Alan) Johannesson of Blaine, Wash., Laura Niwranski of Blaine, Wash., Carol (Dan) Haws of Sierra Vista, Ariz., and Lee (Kelly) Slade of Ephrafa, Wash.; 2 step-daughters, Darlene (Chuck) Spiegel and Glenda (Ira) Bibbero; 16 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren and his very special friend Lois Riffle. He was preceded in death by his wife of 30 years, Ethal (Turner) Slade and a infant son Curtis Lee Slade. At age 17 Harley enlisted in the Air Force, Private 1st class and served as a wire photo technician for 3 years. In 1951 he went to work for Edwards Air Force Base doing various jobs until he retired in 1977. He was an active member of the Lancaster Elks Lodge BPOE 1625 for nearly 50 years. He also loved camping and all of his many friends. Harley will be missed by all of those who loved him.
