Dana
James Fewtrell, beloved husband and father, died after a lengthy illness on
March 6, 2025 at a rehab facility in Bakersfield, Calif.
Dana was born Nov. 25, 1957 in Torrance, Calif., and lived most of his life in southern California. He graduated from California State University, Northridge with a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering. Dana almost immediately began his dream career in aerospace, working for almost 40 years as a flight test engineer at Edwards AFB. He was an integral part of the first flight of the B2 Bomber and worked on many different programs over the years, including tests on aerial refueling, drone airplanes and parachutes.
In 1986, a few months after starting at Edwards, Dana married Elizabeth Loeb. They celebrated their 39th wedding anniversary in January. Dana was a devoted father to his son, Rick. Father and son enjoyed a shared passion for cars and auto racing. After living in the Antelope Valley for 20 years, the family moved to Bear Valley Springs in 2006. Dana loved the mountains and the small Tehachapi community.
In addition to his love of airplanes, Dana was also passionate about cars (especially Fords, and more specifically, Mustangs), cooking, his dogs, and especially his family. He loved traveling with Elizabeth and Rick.
Dana is survived by his wife, Elizabeth, their son, Rick Savage, daughter-in-law Hannah, and his sister, Beth, and brother, Dean.
