James Elmer Norwood Jr passed away in his sleep on Wednesday, 29 November 2023. Jim was born on 11 March 1936 in Clarendon, Arkansas and right after high school he joined the US Air Force. He was stationed at Edwards Air Force Base where he worked as a crew chief and a radar technician. When he left the military he remained at Edwards and joined the Civil Service. He met a local school teacher, Darlene Knodel, and they were married in 1959. He spent the first half of his 32 year Civil Service career as a bombing range radar controller (SPORT) and later managed the physical assets of the bombing ranges. He was an avid softball player, photographer, and gardener. He enjoyed bluegrass music and the guitar playing of Chet Atkins.
