Thomas R. Twisdale, born on May 23, 1946, in Anniston, Alabama, passed away peacefully at his home in Greenwood, Missouri, on March 4, 2025.

Thomas was laid to rest at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville, Missouri, on March 7, 2025.

 

The following information regarding Tom's career at Edwards AFB Flight Test Center was given by Bob Kennington.

Thomas R. Twisdale is listed as the author of several technical reports and papers on the subject of aircraft handling qualities. In 1971 he was listed as Lieutenant Thomas R Twisdale assigned to the Flight Test Technology Branch at the AFFTC. So it appears he started working at Edwards as a military officer.

After he separated from the USAF he became a civilian employee at Edwards, continuing to work in the Flight Test Technology Branch for many years. He is listed as either authoring or contributing to many technical documents related to aircraft handling qualities. Later in his career he became associated with the Test Pilot School as a classroom instructor on the subjects of aircraft control and handling qualities.
